Milena de la Pena was born in Colombia and attended art school at Bellas Artes Conservatory in Cali, Colombia. Milena moved to the United States at an early age and studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. Later on, she attended C.W. Post in Brookville N.Y., The Finishing School of Faux Painting in New York, and most recently, the esteemed Academy of Art University, in San Francisco, California.
In 1975, Milena opened. Milena’s Gallery in Woodmere, N.Y. exhibiting works of Marc Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, and other impressionist artists.
In the 1980’s Milena launched a ready-to-wear fashion line, Milena de la Pena, followed by an accessories line which was then sold to numerous stores in the US and overseas. The stores she sold to included Henry Bendel’s in New York City, Magarite Lee (From Honk Kong AKA Escada), Macy’s, Bergdorf Goodman, as well as many others. She also sold to Honey Bee’s catalog in New York City. Milena and her unique designs were featured in fashion magazines, like Flair, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, the New York Times newspaper, as well as many other important fashion magazines.
Milena, is an accomplished artist, who celebrates life through her art and encourages those touched by cancer, like herself to never give up, she supports The Sussan G Komen foundation dedicated to research the cure for breast cancer, by donating a percentage of her sales.
